All “The 100” fans clamoring for an on-screen relationship between Bellamy Blake and Clarke Griffin finally got to see their wish come true. Just not in the way they would expect.
Bob Morley, the actor who plays the role of Bellamy Blake, and Eliza Taylor, the actor who plays Clarke Griffin announced early in June 2019 that they were married after keeping their off-screen romance hush-hush and low-key for the six years the pair costarred on the show.
The announcement came in the form of a tweet on June 7, 2019, when Taylor tweeted that she had
married her best friend and soul mate, then tagging Morley’s Twitter account. Taylor then told their fans that the two are very happy together and politely
requested the fans to respect their privacy and keep their comments kind.
Bob Morley also tweeted out to announce the marriage, also ending his statement asking everyone to be kind and respectful.
While the announcement came as a huge surprise to fans in 2019, it has still left a lot of people scratching their heads today. After all, little, if anything was known about their off-screen relationship before any of the announcements happened. So if you’re confused about the Eliza Taylor and Bob Morley relationship, you’ve come to the right place. We lay down what we know about the two.
A Very Private Relationship
Since “The 100” came out in 2014 with both Morley and Taylor playing main roles, fans have long speculated that their characters Clarke Griffin and Bellamy Blake would start dating and, possibly, become husband and wife. This may have been in part due to the plot of the show, but also because of the great chemistry between the two characters on screen.
The seemingly natural and organic vibe between the two had led fans to believe that the two actors were in a relationship. As you can expect, if fandom is curious about two actors in their favorite show being a couple, they will have a lot of questions. And they didn’t hesitate to ask them, either.
But to the dismay of a lot of fans, they never really got a proper answer. This is because, for years on end, the two actors have done a great job at naturally addressing the questions being thrown at them but never giving a full answer. This, of course, lead to even more speculation and theories. It was further intensified by the way the two characters began to develop on the show.
At the beginning of the story, both Blake and Griffin were on opposing sides. However, as the story moved forward, the characters grew to become partners and friends. By the end of the first season, it’s clear that there is a great deal of respect and camaraderie between the two, which culminated in the sixth season in a very intense scene between the two.
The scene where Morley’s character desperately tries to revive Taylor’s character is one filled with a lot of emotion and chemistry, though Taylor has joked that Morley did most of the work and all she had to do was close her eyes. Because of that scene and many more scenes between the two that show their natural chemistry and shared energy, fans have long wanted the two to get together, creating the “Bellarke” fandom.
This is why it’s understandable that the whole fandom erupted at the announcement of the marriage. The two did not formally confirm their relationship up until the announcement of their marriage. This is because they both respect their own and each other’s privacy, repeatedly telling the press that they have always preferred to keep their private life private. The marriage happened on the 5th of May, 2019 and the couple has not released that much more information on the wedding.
They have stressed, however, that this does not reflect at all anything that’s happening or will be happening on the show. So for those itching for “Bellarke” to happen, you shouldn’t get your hopes up too high. But that’s no reason to feel down, because, at the end of the day, the real people behind the great performances of Bellamy and Clarke are together in real life, happy and married. It may not be what everyone was hoping for, but in ways, things turned out much, much, better.
